The aneantisating machine

“This work of art was created in 1963. It consists of a metal construction and several dozen of old, well-worn fold-up chairs. The metal construction, made by ironworkers, was paid for with money from the city funds (approximately 500 zł). The chairs were borrowed. In 1964 the metal construction was disposed of to the boiler room of the Krzysztofory Gallery, and the chairs were given away. The machine ceased to exist, because nobody except for its author considered it a work of art. In 1982 the author reconstructed this object. The old metal construction was used after being derusted. The chairs were found in an old store.”
