Workshops by Cricot 2 Theatre Actors

In presenting Cricoteka’s new activity, we would like to invite you to participate in the unique drama workshops led by Cricot 2 Theatre actors.

The workshops have been designed in order to enable the participation of both experienced actors and those who have not yet had the opportunity to confront theatrical practice. Cricoteka workshops do not constitute a presentation of Tadeusz Kantor’s work methods. Their aim is to collectively gain new experiences based on Tadeusz Kantor’s art. His ideas and works will inspire the activities during the workshops. Our goal is to establish a creative reference to Tadeusz Kantor’s theatre work and to attempt to experience it in practice. The workshops are run by actors – Bogdan Renczyński and Marie Vayssière with Ludmiła Ryba. Building on the experience gained while working with Tadeusz Kantor and in their own artistic quest, they have been running acting workshops around the world for the last several years.

The idea of drama workshops was not foreign to Tadeusz Kantor himself – he applied this way of working with drama school students three times. The result of this work were three cricotages: Wedding in Milan in 1986, Very Short Lesson in Charleville-Mezieres in 1988, and Silent Night in Avignon in 1990. These meetings constituted very important experiences for Tadeusz Kantor.

He admitted that they had an impact on the final result of the performances which he worked on at the time. This year’s workshop will be held, unusually, in Cricoteka’s seat at no. 5 Kanonicza Street – at the place where Tadeusz Kantor himself worked on his performances, where he held his rehearsals and created props for his performances.
