April 6, 2015 will mark 100 years since the birth of Tadeusz Kantor, a painter, set designer, art theorist and above all – a man of the theater. Tadeusz Kantor is widely considered as one of the greatest innovators of twentieth-century theater.
In connection with this date, Cricoteka wants to symbolically celebrate the birthday of the artist.
Moreover, on April 17, the official inauguration of the celebrations of the 100th anniversary of the artist birthday will take place in Cricoteka. At 18:00 there will be an opening of an exhibition by Maria Stangret and Tadeusz Kantor prepared jointly by Cricoteka and Foundation of Tadeusz Kantor. The opening will be attended by prof. Malgorzata Omilanowska – Minister of Culture and National Heritage. Finally, on April 18, House of Tadeusz Kantor and Maria Stangret in Hucisko near Gdów will open its doors to the public.

Tadeusz Kantor died a few hours after the final rehearsal of the show Today is my birthday. The premiere took place on 10 January 1991 at the Théâtre Garonne in Toulouse. TV recording was made in Hala Sokoła in Krakow on May 1991.
